In an often hilarious interview Jonathan Miller imitates his more irritating colleagues, rails at certain opera audiences and explains his approach to direction from Rigoletto to Tosca, Mikado to Rosenkavalier.
By kind permission of Chandos Records we were given permission to include excerpts from the original production in 1983 starring John Rawnsley as Rigoletto, Helen Field as Gilda, John Tomlinson as Sparafucile, Jean Rigby as Maddalena, Norman Bailey as Monterone and Alan Opie as Marullo. With the English National Opera orchestra and chorus, conducted by Mark Elder.
